Trumbo Mondays
ONLINE ~
first Monday of the month
Dalton Trumbo was the fabled Hollywood screen writer who wrote non-stop for 18 hours often in the bathtub. Taking a leaf from him, we write with focus for 2-20 minute periods boosted by often wild and woolie prompts (short phrases and visual images). The unpredictabilty of prompts spark ideas for new and ongoing work. There is then the option of reading after each writing period and receiving supportive responses.
Time: 10:00-1:15pmEST
When: First Monday of the month (unless otherwise posted because of holidays)
Cost: $60 / by Venmo or check
To enroll or if you have questions: please email Kendall at kendalldudley2@icloud.com
While people above have barefeet and art supplies, most meetings have no barefeet and fewer art supplies. If you’re into art, bring what you’re used to, but there’s no expectation of artistic backgroud just a willingness to try simple techniques that can open you to your writing, and your art, should you want it.

What happens during the hour writing?
A few minutes of Free-Writing loosens body-spirit-mind & opens us to the unpredictable that can be directed to whatever writing you had in mind. Or it may shoot you in a different direction (I was writing about my childood in Detroit but got distracted by writing about an article I read about wolves when I realized I was raised by wolves disguised as parents.) In the spirit of allowing the unanticipated to enter the writing, surprizes happen.
In the remaining hour, you get to read what you’ve written (but don’t have to) and get comments.
“I was going to write about my night stuck on the Tappen Zee bridge but the prompt “reconstructed” took me to the bridge at Mostar that had been rebuilt after the Balkan wars.” L.A.
